Hello there, and welcome to the new and like-tenth redesign of betobeto.com online (I lost count a long time ago!)
For those who don’t know me, I am Alberto González — Beto for most friends, I live and work in Costa Rica as an user experience practicioner, and like to draw funny pictures as a hobby and to retain the drawing skills (whatever I have left, anyway) from my years at college, where I majored from Graphic Arts. You can find more at the About page.
A personal site is always in one way or another a medium to showcase what’s important to you at a certain point in time. In my case, there has been this long-neglected desire to devote myself more into drawing and sketching, and I wanted this site to reflect that too — one of my key goals is to devote myself into comics and cartooning in a professional way in the future, or at least give it my best try.
For years, this site was largely known for featuring a Spanish-language weblog. However I also wanted to cater to the increasing number of online friends and acquaintances who are English-only speakers, so to avoid any conflicts of interest I moved away the Spanish blog to a proper domain, porescrito.net (literally, “In Written Form”), and leave this site for doodles and my portfolio. Check it out if you’re a bilingual wiz.
As usual, it took a major event — a vacation trip to Argentina– to pick up steam to retouch and finish this design, which had been lingering on for months. Some things, like the proverbial mothball, had to be swept under the carpet by lack of time, but the important thing is to get this started I guess.
So here we go. Hope you like it, and come around often.
